Our talcum powder ovarian cancer lawsuit attorneys at Hutton & Hutton
are currently reviewing claims from women who have suffered ovarian cancer
symptoms after using talcum powder and similar baby powder products in
the genital area.
Big pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is in the center
of the legal scandal, as it is believed that they were aware of the risks
associated with their talcum powder, including increasing the chance of
a woman developing ovarian cancer, more than 30 years ago but did nothing
to warn consumers. J&J has yet to even put a warning label on their
most popular products, including
Baby Powder and
Shower-to-Shower. There have been at least 16 studies in the last several decades that
concluded that women who used talcum powder in genital regions were up
to 33% more susceptible to developing ovarian cancer or similar ailments.
A History of Lawsuits Against J&J
In 2013, a jury’s verdict declared that Johnson & Johnson knew
about the risks their talcum powder caused in terms of ovarian cancer
developing yet did nothing to warn female consumers. The lawsuit cited
that a 1982 study found an incredibly-high 92% increased chance of developing
ovarian cancer when the company’s talcum powder products were used
over the course of several years. Although the case was won in the plaintiff’s
favor, no damages were rewarded.
There has since been a class action lawsuit filed against J&J on behalf
of women who have used their talcum powder and baby powder products. The
class action is only pursuing compensation in terms of how much money
was spent on the potentially-dangerous products throughout the years; it does
not pursue damages for medical bills, lost wages, emotional harm, and more.
If you do want to pursue full compensation, as is likely for your comfortable
recovery from the harm J&J talcum powder has caused, you can contact
our talcum powder and ovarian cancer attorneys at Hutton & Hutton.
Depending on the circumstances of your case, we may want to opt you into
a separate class action or create an individualized lawsuit on your behalf.
You do not have to worry about draining your finances to start your lawsuit
either – we work for contingency fees, which means we charge nothing
until we win your case.
