RoundUp Lawsuits in Wichita

Product Liability Lawyers Fighting for Your Rights

When we use common household products or when farmer's use products at a wider-scale correctly, we all have a right to expect them to be safe for our health. Unfortunately, that is not the case with Monsanto’s popular RoundUp weed killer product, which contains a carcinogen known as glyphosate that is extremely dangerous to humans. With extended use, RoundUp may cause a range of cancers, including leukemia, multiple myeloma, and the extremely painful and incurable variant known as non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

If you or your loved ones have been injured after exposure to Monsanto’s RoundUp, our Wichita product liability team can help you navigate the process of filing a claim. Our attorneys at Hutton & Hutton Law Firm, LLC have over four decades of experience fighting on behalf of injury victims, and we never back down against major corporations like Monsanto.

What Makes Glyphosate So Dangerous?

While it was marketed for over 70 years as a safe pesticide for consumer gardens and agricultural businesses, glyphosate – the key component in RoundUp – is now considered to be a probable human carcinogen. In spite of a landmark 2015 study illustrating this claim from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), which has also been backed by the World Health Organization (WHO), agricultural giant Monsanto still maintains that their product is not harmful to humans.

In the midst of a 2018 lawsuit, however, it was revealed that Monsanto did far more than just deny the risks of RoundUp: The company also took active steps to suppress and discredit information about glyphosate’s dangers, while working in connection with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to promote more favorable research instead. According to a January 2019 report published by Environmental Sciences Europe, the EPA used research that had been paid for and ghostwritten by Monsanto scientists, and ignored dozens of peer-reviewed studies that showed the harm of glyphosate.

Research suggests that glyphosate exposure is linked to the following health problems:

  • Cancer, particularly non-Hodgkin lymphoma
  • Impaired liver function and liver damage
  • Diabetes
  • ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Infertility
  • Asthma and other respiratory disorders

Pursuing Damages for RoundUp Injuries

After a jury awarded one plaintiff $289 million for his non-Hodgkin lymphoma claim, many other plaintiffs have come forward to seek damages from Monsanto and parent company Bayer. Currently, there are over 13,400 civil cases pending against the organization, including multiple class action lawsuits over the widespread use of RoundUp weed killer on crops and agricultural communities.

At Hutton & Hutton Law Firm, LLC, we’re committed to holding Monsanto and Bayer accountable for this egregious example of corporate negligence. If you have suffered from adverse effects after use of RoundUp, particularly over a long period of time, you may be entitled to seek compensation for your losses.
